16–19 Bursary Fund

At Trinity Catholic High School, we are committed to ensuring that every student has equal access to the opportunities that will help them thrive and succeed in our Sixth Form.

The 16–19 Bursary Fund is a government-funded scheme designed to help eligible students overcome financial barriers to participating fully in their education. Support may be available towards essential costs such as travel, textbooks, equipment, technology required for learning, clothing permitted under the Sixth Form dress code, educational trips and eligible university-related costs.

Bursaries for defined vulnerable groups – for students who meet the national eligibility criteria and have an assessed financial need. Eligible students may receive support of up to £1,200 per year, depending on their actual participation needs and costs.

Discretionary bursaries – students can apply where total household income does not exceed £25,000 per year. Students who do not meet this criterion but can demonstrate financial hardship arising from other circumstances may also apply.

All applications are assessed individually and fairly, taking account of the student’s circumstances and actual financial need.

Funding is not automatically awarded simply because an eligibility criterion is met.

Applications for 2026–2027 should be made through our online Bursary 16+ Applicaa platform. Applications should ideally be submitted by 30 September 2026; however, applications remain open throughout the academic year because we recognise that family circumstances can change.

The amount and type of support provided will depend on individual need, eligible costs and the funding available to the school.
