Our Sixth Form hosts a dynamic calendar of events each year, carefully designed to inspire, inform, and support students as they begin and continue their journey through post-16 education. These events play a key role in helping students explore their interests, develop key skills, and prepare for their chosen pathways, whether that’s university, apprenticeships, or the world of work.
From academic taster days to higher education evenings, we offer a wide range of opportunities that enrich the Sixth Form experience and broaden horizons.
Below, you’ll find highlights of some of our annual events that may be of interest to both current and prospective students.
Higher Education Evening
This annual event is aimed at parents and guardians of Year 12 students, and is a key part of the support we offer as students begin planning their next steps.
The purpose of the evening is to:
• Provide an overview of the UCAS (Universities and Colleges Admissions Service) application process
• Explain the support programme we offer and how we manage applications as a school
• Share key information on student finance, including loans and tuition fees
This event is particularly helpful for families navigating the process for the first time, and we strongly encourage all parents/guardians to attend. The evening is designed to be both informative and supportive, and previous attendees have found it extremely valuable in understanding the journey ahead.
Year 12 Induction & Taster Day – A Key Start to Sixth Form Life
Each year, we host our Year 12 Induction and Taster Day, an exciting and informative event that welcomes both internal and external applicants to our Sixth Form community.
Held in early July, this day is designed to give students a meaningful introduction to Sixth Form life. Through interactive taster lessons in their chosen subjects, students gain valuable insight into course expectations and the academic environment they will join in September.
For external applicants, the day begins with a welcome session tailored to help them feel part of our community. This includes opportunities to meet key members of the Sixth Form team, tour our facilities, engage with current Sixth Form students, and explore the breadth of extra-curricular opportunities on offer.
The Induction and Taster Day is a core part of our transition programme, helping all students feel informed, inspired, and prepared as they take this important next step in their educational journey.
