A Trinity Sixth Former begins the day in Form Time, a key part of our pastoral programme. This daily check-in provides a calm and purposeful start, giving students the chance to register with their Form Tutor, reflect on current affairs, take part in citizenship and personal development discussions and build strong relationships within their form community. It is also an opportunity for students to receive guidance and plan for the day and week ahead.
Throughout the day, students engage with their Sixth Form study programme, focusing on the subjects they have chosen to specialise in. Lessons encourage students to think deeply, explore complex ideas and work closely with teachers to develop the academic independence required for future study. During non-lesson periods, students are expected to use their time productively. Many choose to work in our dedicated study areas, consolidating classwork, completing independent study tasks or preparing for upcoming lessons. These routines support strong progress and develop study habits that are valued by universities and employers.
As senior members of the school community, Sixth Formers take on important leadership roles. Students play an active part in school life by supporting younger pupils, contributing to assemblies and participating in whole-school events. Leadership is encouraged through our Guardian Angel mentoring programme, where Sixth Formers support younger students academically and pastorally. Many also volunteer in local primary schools, parish communities and wider community projects. These experiences help students develop confidence, empathy and communication skills and support their growth into responsible young adults.
Every student attends a weekly Personal and Spiritual Development session. This programme explores health and wellbeing, relationships, personal safety, employability skills and future pathways. It also includes VESPA coaching to strengthen study habits and provides UCAS and apprenticeship preparation to guide students towards successful next steps. These sessions ensure that students leave Trinity confident, well rounded and fully prepared for life after Sixth Form.
Break and lunchtime offer opportunities to socialise. Sixth Formers enjoy their own common rooms and an exclusive outdoor seating area with a café pod where they can purchase food without needing to use the main school canteen. The common rooms include study booths, collaborative spaces and quiet areas for reading, work or discussion.
Students also benefit from excellent study facilities. The Learning Resource Centre is equipped with books, journals and computers and supported by experienced librarians who help students access high-quality academic resources. Open before and after school, it provides an ideal environment for independent study in a calm and focused setting.
An excellent day for a Trinity Sixth Former blends purposeful study, leadership, service and community. It is a day in which students stretch themselves academically, build independence, develop confidence and play a meaningful role in school life. Above all, it is a day where they continue to grow into the young adults they aspire to become.
