At Trinity, we are dedicated to preparing every student for a successful, fulfilling and ambitious future. Our Sixth Form provides a rich programme of personal development, academic support and tailored careers guidance to ensure that each young person is ready to progress confidently into university, apprenticeships or employment. All students benefit from meaningful work experience, high-quality careers education and personalised advice that helps them understand their strengths, explore opportunities and make informed decisions about their next steps.
Whatever pathway they choose, our aim remains the same: to support students in securing aspirational and life-enhancing destinations. Whether they progress to leading universities, embark on competitive apprenticeships or move directly into skilled employment, Trinity students leave us with the confidence, character and preparation needed to thrive in the world beyond Sixth Form.
Each year, the majority of our students progress to universities across the UK and beyond, including some of the most prestigious and academically competitive institutions in the country. Trinity students regularly secure places at leading Russell Group universities such as Oxford, Cambridge, University College London, King’s College London, Imperial College London, Warwick, Bristol, Nottingham, Leeds, Sheffield and Birmingham. Many others choose to continue their studies at highly respected universities including Loughborough, Queen Mary University of London, Royal Holloway, the University of Bath, the University of Sussex, the University of Reading and the University of the Arts London.
We offer a comprehensive programme of guidance, including:
- University visits and taster days
- UCAS and apprenticeship fairs
- Talks from university admissions tutors
- Higher education evening for students and parents
- Detailed UCAS preparation and form guidance
- Personal statement workshops and one-to-one feedback
- Mock interviews for Medicine, Law, Oxbridge and competitive courses
- Early entry preparation for Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary Science
Many students also pursue apprenticeships or enter the world of work, with placements in industries including Accounting, Construction, Electrical, Engineering, Finance, Hospitality, Law, Property Development, and Surveying. Others have secured employment in Firefighting, HR, Insurance, Retail, Security, Sports, and Technology. These students are fully supported through targeted workshops, application support and employer encounters.
Our Personal and Spiritual Development programme equips students with the skills, knowledge and confidence to make informed choices about university, apprenticeships, employment and independent living. Students begin Year 12 with the VESPA programme, focusing on Vision, Effort, Systems, Practice and Attitude, which develops the strong habits and mindsets that underpin effective study and high achievement. This is complemented by a broad curriculum covering essential areas such as health and wellbeing, relationships, financial literacy, citizenship and preparation for adult life.
Students also receive structured guidance on post-18 pathways. In Year 12, they explore UCAS and apprenticeships, learn how to choose the right courses, attend university and apprenticeship fairs, and begin preparing for admissions tests and interviews. Teachers begin to work closely with students to shape, refine and strengthen their UCAS applications, providing personalised guidance throughout the process. All students use Unifrog to research universities, courses, apprenticeships and careers, and to record their achievements and enrichment activities.
In Year 13, this support deepens as students complete UCAS and apprenticeship applications, refine their personal statements, prepare for interviews, and continue developing the practical skills needed for life after Sixth Form, from managing student finance to living independently, navigating change and preparing for results day and their next steps.
Our Luminaries Programme provides tailored support for students aspiring to the most competitive universities and courses. It offers personalised guidance in super-curricular enrichment, advanced academic reading and research, preparation for university admissions tests and coaching in interview technique and academic discussion skills.
Super-curricular study refers to learning that goes beyond the core curriculum, allowing students to explore topics in greater depth than their subject specifications. Engaging in super-curricular activities helps students develop new ideas and opinions, deepen their understanding of information from different sources and broaden their experience in areas of academic interest. It strengthens critical thinking and analytical skills and supports strong UCAS applications, particularly for competitive courses and universities.
Students are regularly encouraged and guided in their super-curricular exploration, using tools such as Unifrog to access wider reading, lectures, articles, courses and enrichment opportunities that help them stand out as proactive, motivated and academically curious candidates. Recent examples of super-curricular work by Trinity students include investigations into the rise of quantitative trading, the limits of mathematics, the impact of ultra-processed foods on society, the primary causes of inequality in developed versus developing countries, a historical study of Margaret Beaufort, and comparisons of urban planning and urban design. These projects reflect the intellectual curiosity and independence that we aim to foster in all our Sixth Form students.
Careers and progression are at the heart of our Sixth Form provision. Students follow a carefully structured programme of work-related learning that includes a full week of high-quality work experience in Year 12 and frequent opportunities to engage directly with employers who share the skills, attributes and behaviours valued in the modern workplace. Our strong partnerships with universities, apprenticeship providers and a wide range of local and national employers broaden students’ horizons and give them a clear understanding of the academic, technical and vocational routes available. Through PSD lessons, tutor activities, career spotlights, careers fairs, visiting speakers, parental webinars, targeted one-to-one guidance and the use of online research platforms, students develop the confidence, knowledge and labour-market awareness needed to make informed, ambitious and aspirational choices about their future.
