A Trinity Sixth Former begins the day in Form Time, a key part of our pastoral programme. This daily check-in provides a calm and purposeful start, allowing students to register with their Form Tutor, reflect on current affairs, take part in citizenship and personal development discussions. It is also an opportunity to receive guidance and plan for the day and week ahead.
Throughout the day, students engage with their Sixth Form study programme, focusing on the subjects they have chosen to specialise in. Lessons promote deep thinking, exploration of complex ideas and high-quality teaching that supports the development of academic independence required for future study. During non-lesson periods, students are expected to use their time productively, often working in dedicated study areas to consolidate learning, complete independent study tasks or prepare for upcoming lessons. These routines support strong progress and develop study habits valued by universities and employers.
As senior members of the school community, Sixth Formers take on important leadership roles. They support younger students, contribute to assemblies and participate actively in whole-school events. Leadership is further developed through the Guardian Angel mentoring programme, where Sixth Formers provide academic and pastoral support, alongside volunteering in local primary schools, parish communities and wider community projects. These experiences foster confidence, empathy and strong communication skills.
Every student attends a weekly Personal and Spiritual Development session covering health and wellbeing, relationships, personal safety, employability skills and future pathways. The programme includes VESPA coaching to strengthen study habits, alongside UCAS and apprenticeship preparation to support successful next steps. As a result, students leave Trinity confident, well-rounded and prepared for life beyond Sixth Form.
Break and lunchtime provide opportunities to socialise and recharge. Sixth Formers benefit from a dedicated common room, outdoor seating area and café pod, as well as excellent study facilities. These include a supervised independent study area reserved for quiet, focused work and a well-resourced Learning Resource Centre, open before and after school and supported by experienced librarians.
An excellent day for a Trinity Sixth Former blends purposeful study, leadership, service and community. Students stretch themselves academically, build independence and confidence, and play a meaningful role in school life as they continue to grow into the young adults they aspire to become.
