Hate Crimes are any crimes that are motivated by hostility or prejeudice against an identifiable group of people based on a characteristic or perceived characteristic.

This could be:

  • Race
  • Disability
  • Religion or belief
  • Gender
  • Sexual Orientation
  • Trans and Gender Reassignment
  • Disability – including physical and learning difficulties and mental health
  • The perception that someone fits into one of these categories, even if they do not
